Knowing us like no other, the “God of our Understanding” addresses the significant failings of each one, our well-won victories, as well as everything in between. Each of the above Gifts is offered to help us hasten our understanding and evaluate our progress, based on the level of difficulty we have in arriving at Surrender. Becoming familiar with the concept of “Acceptance”, we can ultimately take that concept a bit further to the idea of “Agreement”, which may seem less than obvious, but in essence holds the same meaning as Surrender. As we “agree” that all of the above is necessary, beneficial, and essential to our arrival at the intended “Divine Destination”, we experience the presence of Peace and Gratitude in our hearts, and the Courage, Faith and Determination to continue on the long and windy path of addiction recovery.
